Visitors can also enjoy the latest movie trailers, videos of PPC games, music videos and short movies, including an exclusive Stephen King section".

At first glance, this seemed like a pretty cool site. Then I KNEW it was a cool site when I saw that they had a video entitled "LEGO Chainsaw Massacre: It's a real scream when a legendary horror film is re-created with a cast of LEGOs. Will Leatherface become Plasticface?" While the short movies are a much appreciated bonus, it's the news that gets top billing. I counted 10 fairly current video news stories, and quite a few tech, entertainment and business stories as well.

There are also quite a few music videos, including the LEGO-themed "Fell in Love With A Girl" video by the White Stripes (in the Rock section). High and low quality versions of each stream are available, and there is a short 9 second commercial at the beginning of all the videos I watched. If you need your video in Real format for some reason, PocketPC Media is able to oblige you, and there's also a huge selection of streaming radio from the Netherlands, Belgium, UK and US as well. Check it out!

The site looks cool however I can download the files but don't seem to have what it takes to play them. What prog does it take?

I am alarmed that the Decapitation of an American (uncensored) video is classed as a short movie. I could imagine warez or personal sites hosting this but not a company that wanted serious business.

Also alarmed me as well. Don't know what they were thinking on this...

going back on topic...

This site can be a sure winner... It would be nice if there is an option to upload our own videos (subject to screening/censorship) to ensure firendly content...

But I'm sure this will be a good portal for something as shallow as funniest home videos to instructional content.

Who knows, maybe Pocekt PC sites like Pocket PC Thoughts, PPCW.Net, MoDaCo, BostonPocketPC and all the rest can send out video clips of their meetings...

Just an idea...

If you pay for GPRS usage on a per kb basis, wouldn't this be horribly expensive, unless you had an unlimited data plan?

FYI - I'd earlier removed a post from DavesIpaq indicating that the video in question doesn't exactly qualify as "friendly" because I was worried that the discussion would get out of hand.

So, we've been told that the video has now been removed. Let's not discuss that video in particular anymore, please.

Any further discussion of it will be removed by me. If you post before you see my message, and there are no replies to your post, I believe you can delete it yourself to save me the trouble.

Let's instead talk about PPC-formatted web sites and link sites.

 Given the topic, been meaning to ask this for a while. I connect to the internet via sprint vision on my pocketpc/phone (Hitachi). It seems that almost every video I try to stream, even from a site such as this that is tailored to PPC, results in an error message: "Windows Media Player Cannot Play this File"....... accompanied by a nice red X in the middle of a blank page. I'm obviously missing something, can anyone tell me what it is? Thanks!

I also wonder how legal this is. Free TV clips? Not saying it's illegal, but I'd like some proof.

I also wonder how legal this is.

I was wondering this too. I have gig's and gig's of saved TV from Snapstream, but would not publically distribute it. Not without permission first.

The news reports seem to be recorded from WB11 in NY. I can't see any video feed links on WB11.com, so assume the video's are recorded via a TV capture card.

For all of those who wonder if the content is legal...
please visit the about page on PocketPCMedia.
You can there see we have several content partners.

@Suddenly_ike,

I give a lecture in a couple of weeks about mobile services to a lot of contentproviders, and PocketPCMedia will be one of the highlights in this presentation of a good mobile service.
