foldable keyboard

I have an ipaq 5550. I recently purchased an HP foldable keyboard. When in excel, if I press a key on the foldable keyboard, the on screen keyboard appears which partly obscures the screen. Surely there must be some way of "switching off" the on screen keyboard to give me a full screen when entering data via the foldable keyboard? Your thoughts would be welcome.
