Site design advice

Hey guys, I'm working on a template for my site and I need to know which you think looks better:


My eye likes the banner of Design 1 much more. It sticks out more and is a little more pleasing. However, I think I like the left-side image headings of design 2... the orange gear catches the eye and, although wastes more space, seems to fit the overall theme a little better.

I like #1 best, but I'd be curious to see what the background color looks like in gray. I also agree with adwignall - I like the orange gear headers in example #2.

I'd also lose the little iPod thing in the top right - it just doesn't seem to fit.

Both look slick though, whichever one you end up with. 8)

The banner on #1 is definitley the best one, but I do agree, but the title headings from number 2 on #1 and you're set! :D

The funny part is, the second logo design was from my newsletter template, which is why it says "Gear Report". A couple friends of mine looked at it and said that looks better than what I have on the site template.

The punch of orange on the heading on site number 1 is much nicer, giving it a much needed punch of colour.

Not in the design!?!?! I've take great pains to make it completely unique. The only idea I borrowed from DMT is the Featured Article concept.
