PPC users that are Shaw customers have bee frustrated by the lack of email access from there PPC for two reasons:

1. Shaw never let users hit there server from off of their network
2. Shaw's response has always been to use Webmail. Problem being that Windows Mobile can't handle their interface.

Shaw has made this announcement today which will hopefully solve the POP3 issue.

Did I read that correctly? They're charging an extra fee for this? 8O
Forget it if that's the case. This is a feature Shaw has been missing for far too long, and now they want to be paid for finally offering it? Forget it.

I kind of disagree.
You have to applaud the decision to finally provide a solution and changing their rather stubborn attitude to the situation.
Also, I would rather them charge a fee (actually the third party is charging) for those who want and use the service rather than charging across the board.
Regardless, I signed up for the free 10 hours.

I agree that their attitude has been stubborn, but I don't like this answer. They should allow POP access to their mail like the rest of the world.

Agreed that it's better to charge those who want it rather than increase the prices for everyone. But I believe this should have been included from day 1 at the current price.

I know I won't win this one and am probably in the minority, but Shaw frustrates me to no end with their policies.

truly if you need to depend on shawmail then things are desperate – personally I would much rather eat razors and chew on broken glass then use their mail, then again same goes for Telus, which is even worse. Considering that for less than $60/year you can have your own domain and email I don’t know why anyone would go to the trouble of using either Shaw or Telus mail, come on people you are supposed to be resourceful geeks, not just helpless geeks.

Already there!
Remember....this service isn't just email but actually a global access dialup service.
