Pocket PC e800 is by no means at the end of the lifetime at Toshiba. Indeed this product, which meets a sharp success on the French market, will evolve even during May to Windows Mobile 2003 second edition like previously announced. This "new" Pocket PC e800 of share its new version of Windows Mobile 2003 second edition will be called well Pocket PC e800 and will keep the same design features as the current product. <br /><br />This Pocket PC e800 equipped with Windows Mobile 2003 second edition will be one of the official advertisements at the time of the 4th Forum of the Mobile Solutions which will take place on May 4, 2004 with the intercontinental hotel of Paris (pc.toshiba.fr). In addition, all the current owners of Pocket PC e800 will be able to make evolve their product to Windows Mobile 2003 second edition and this free via a remote loading on the Web site of Toshiba (pc.toshiba.fr for France) as from the second week of May."<br /><br />At least we have a Toshiba person with a name and title announcing that the Toshiba WM2003 SE upgrade will be free...

toshiba never denied the e803 according to brighthand. But denied the discontinuation of the e805.

Toshiba France had to respond because a major online retailer in France ran a promotion to sell e800s for 299 euros in error. They then sent an email to all the buyers who ordered one and they blamed the fact that Toshiba had informed them the e800 was discontinued and would be replaced by the e830 in July. Toshiba had to make sure the e805 would still sell and everybody wouldn't just wait for the e830, which Toshiba did NOT say would not be released in the future.

They just said the next announced device would be the e800 with SE installed.

In the Pocketpcparadise.com original article, I don't see anything where Didier Halbique from Toshiba France denies the e830. He only says the e805 isn't discontinued. I read it in French and then in the translation provided on their site.

Not that I believe Toshiba is going to produce two fairly similar high end PPCs simultaneously.

pdagal is right, Pat, Toshiba France didn't deny the so called e830's existence, so the title to this thread is not correct!!

Like many people here I'm waiting for the e830 (or whatever it will be called )

If I hadn't bought an e805 at launch and didn't have one still today I'd definitely wait for the e830. It will be here within a few months surely. They just don't want to announce it yet, they have to get rid of the e805 parts/stock.

I would guess that most of the parts are identical.....just a different processor and a BT chip....no? I don't think the 830 will have a different form factor...if it did, it probably wouldn't be in the "800" series.

I like the form factor and I like the blue colour. Bring em on! :way to go:

I like the form factor too, tho I find the edges to be somewhat too rough. I find the body to look too much plastic, I preferred the boring but more professional look of the metallic previous ones. I also regret the IR port is on the bottom left side, very awkward to use as a TV remote like I do with my X5.

But I love everything else: 2 slots a well placed side scroll, slim and sexy look, the large 4" VGA screen 8) plus the reported fact it should have both BT and Wi-Fi :D :D :D

OK, so where do I pre-order this vaporware, or is it alleged PPC.
