<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.developerone.com/agendafusion/vga/' target='_blank'>http://www.developerone.com/agendafusion/vga/</a><br /><br /></div>Hot on the heels of the VGA screenshots of <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=26582&amp;"> Pocket Informant</a>, comes news that one of the big new features of Agenda Fusion 6.0, is its full WM2003SE support, including dynamic landscape / portrait mode display switching and support for VGA devices. Guess what? They have screenshots to prove it! After seeing them I can honestly say, "Wow, I mean, like, really, Wow". :sunny: <br /><br />The screenshot below is resized to QVGA in order to fit our front page and you really owe it to yourself to see the originals <a href="http://www.developerone.com/agendafusion/vga/ ">here</a>.<br /><br /> <img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/AF6.jpg" /> <br /><i><span>I can see clearly now, the grain has gone</span></i><br /><br />Be patient if the page takes a while to load, as understandably there are a lot of large images to download.<br /><br />The high-resolution icons and whole look of AF 6.0 is just stunning. VGA on PPCs – you know you want it – admit it!

This vga stuff is driving me nuts. I've settled in with my PPC2002, have things pretty much like I want'em and running reliably like I need'em, etc. I look at these screen shots and I wonder...maybe I could put off painting the house, skip lunch for a year or turn off the cable...OK, I'm envious and don't tell my family.

Wow, the pictures look very nice... I really can't wait for the "VGA resolution."

But I enjoy PI, so I'll stick with that.

Ditto - VGA is of no use to me (from AF or PI) until (or when) I upgrade to an iPaq offering this. And besides, AF still looks aesthetically challenged when compared to PI as it is running on my 2210. It just looiks cluttered, and unrefined (IMHO) and PI looks (and works) just great!

Does that cursor (above the clock in the screenshot) come with the upgrade?

Agenda Fusion is really nice, I can't imagine surviving my studies 'til today without it. :D Now, which Pocket PC should be my next? Super-wireless iPAQ 6300 or VGA screen Asus MyPal A730... ? Well, choices, choices, gotta love 'em!

This vga stuff is driving me nuts.
I was thinking the same thing.

I have mixed emotions everytime I see these VGA screenshots. I love that the new devices will be supporting VGA, but it's driving me CRAZY that no devices support this yet aside from the Toshiba e800.

Hello Jeanne . . . how you doin??

Holding my 3,8 inch screen next to the image (knowing that some new VGA PPC's will only have a 3.7 inch screen) i'd say his picture is a tiny bit larger than my screen. Knowing this....anyone can read those characters in daily life without getting a terrible headache???
VGA is good but only when you don't need extra glasses to do your daily stuff.

Those screens look great. VGA is a must :!: :!: :!:

I will buy a new PDA from the first manufacture that offers a unit with these features.

Microsoft PocketPC SE
An Intel CPU XScale CPU running at 520MHz
128MB RAM
64MB ROM
VGA 480x640 3.5” or 4.0” Display
WiFi
Bluetooth
1 SDIO slot no CF (CF makes a PDA to large)
And a form factor close to the iPAQ 4150

The Asus 730 looks like a close fit when it start shipping

Not quite sure what you mean Ce. On my 19 inch monitor, the VGA pictures appear huge - way larger than 3.7 inches. Bear in mind that you can set the DPI for a given picture to any size you wish.

If you print the VGA picture to a known DPI setting to give you 3.7 inches - then you can make valid comparisons.

Personal I like small fonts! :)

I was referring to the screenshot on the first page of this thread. But I'll first give that print suggestion a try before posting another reply :D

I was referring to the screenshot on the first page of this thread. But I'll first give that print suggestion a try before posting another reply :DThe pixel density of your monitor usually will not compare to that of the LCD screen. LCDs are also clearer. If you want to emulate this quickly (still not as well, but quickly), change the resolution of your monitor (CRT only) to as high as you can. Try and size it up. This should give you a better idea of what it will look like. The LCD will still be clearer.

Ce - you are bearing this in mind?

The screenshot below is resized to QVGA in order to fit our front page and you really owe it to yourself to see the originals here.

Dont do this with my resized 240x320 image - do it with the original 640x480 image on the orginal linked paged.

Thanks Jonathon and Theone3...I'll give it a try.

b.t.w. I was using a laptop when comparing this picture with my PDA screen.

Printing the image will give you an even higher DPI and will let you actually place the image over your PPC. If you do it in Word etc you can use the ruler to manually resize the VGA image to exactly the dimentions you want. Well worth doing. :)

Yeah, I admit it. Well at least I got the software half now all I need is the hardware half.

I have no problem with loving either of them since I run both of them on my iPAQ :D . I finally gave up last year trying to choose between the two. It was taking up too much of my time installing #1 PIM and uninstalling the #2 PIM. At least now I can concentrate on my next PDA choice(Tosh or wait for iPAQ??? Wish I could have both  this way I could run one one PIM on the Tosh and the other PIM on the iPAQ - mmmm, but which one on which :? )

Crap, yet another neato feature I won't be able to live without that will delay my next upgrade purchase and make me spend more than I originally wanted to (taking a deep breath).

Keep in mind: VGA doesn't require one to use smaller fonts, it just allows one to. I own a Toshiba e800, and run it in VGA mode except on rare occasions. The applications I run don't really support VGA, and often the default fonts are a bit on the small side. The most important programs (Agenda Fusion 5, Resco Explorer, uBook), though, allow me to set a comfortable font size--for me, approximately 2/3 - 3/4 of the default font size in QVGA mode. For the rest, I just cope, or switch back to QVGA. Yes, it can be difficult at times, but overall it is well worth it.

It can be hard to appreciate just how much easier on the eyes the higher dot pitch is (smoother) until you see it for yourself. I find that I can comfortably read much smaller fonts, just because they're so much sharper.

This is actually one of the problems I forsee with WM2003SE: Microsoft is simply pixel-doubling all the basic interface elements. I like the fact that my title bar, menu bar, and SIP now take up half the space. Once I upgrade to WM2003SE, that will go back to being wasted space. :(

AMEN to that. it's one of the biggest mistakes i see in wm2003se

They should make the pixel doubling (or is it quadrupling?) an option in the Settings panel. I would so love to have one of those e800s!!!

I guess you will be able to hack it in the Registry - but you are right - it should be a user selectable option. I currently use hacks to reduce the interface elements. It would be nice if MS would support this. The less wasted space the better!
