From what I can tell, it uses your Smartphone or Pocket PC Phone Edition to send SMS messages via the desktop (and ActiveSync I would presume). It allows you to delete SMS messages from your phone as well. You'll need to have the .NET framework installed on your PC, which you can get from the Windows Update site. Anyone tried this tool yet?

Fixed. Note that the site only seems to work with IE, as it uses a preponderance of backslashes (\) instead of front-slashes (/) for URLs (which is technically incorrect URL syntax).

Nope, didn't work for me. It says the device is not connected, and the FAQ page where you're redirected says "In construction".

I have been using floAt's Mobile Agent with my SE T610... which allows sending SMS messages from the PC. I hope to get something as useful when I trade in my SE for a MS-based SmartPhone... but then again, I might forgo the SmartPhone altogether with the release of the MPx. Come on Motorola, I am done waiting already!

All my sms correspondents have their interent sms address in the address book... for example [email protected] (Verizon) ...hellava lot simpler than trying to send via a connected device... and cheaper as well.

Works with all of the handset users... it's just the smartphone/phoneedition folks who can't reply ;-)

Yeah, but the "Call" function doesn't work when you do it that way... and there's no counter for how many characters you're using. Nor can you get a status report on wether or not the SMS was delivered.

You can always use a gateway that supports the SMPP (via an SMSC) or SNPP protocol solution from Outlook - not limited to just SMTP.

I use FMA (http://fma.sf.net) too, it's pretty good and does a lot more than just SMS. Well worth a look if you have a compatible phone.
