Guys if you run to http://www.tk/ you will see that you can get a .tk domain for free. The only thing is that the free one, you cant set up the dns setting, so it will url redirect from ur .tk site to ur own site. but its crazy. I got one already!

Yep, I signed up for my .TK address around 2 years ago or so. If you just want a shorter URL for your existing site, it's quite handy.

I just signed up for one for a page I've had piggybacking on another url of mine for a long time. But I have a question, if I type in the .tk domain, it fowards me to my page, however, the title of the page is pagename.tk and the source is just some JS. How do I fully redirect it to my page? Do I just need it to foward it to another site, and if so, what code do I need for that? Thanks a lot for the tip though, this is great. I wish it let you get more than one (free), I have about 5 sites I want a domain for.

to alter the pagename.tk title you're talking about, you have to login to your TK account from the dot.tk website to alter it.

what do u mean that your source is just some javascript?

I was looking at it yesterday with one of the computer guys at my school and I figured out what the site was doing. When type in your .tk domain, it doesn't just foward you, it creates a frames page (with only one frame) and uses javascript to call your website and put it in the frame. That way, there is also a javascript pop-up ad constantly as well. I didn't notice it because of the google toolbar, but when I was analyzing the code I figured it out. So basically, if you don't mind having an pop ups on your site, this is good. I'm never going to use my account though now that I figured that out.

So I go there, type in the domain I want (my initials DJH.tk) and sure enough the name is available.

Only slight problem is that far from being free, these people want $500.00 per year for it.

Looks like I'll be sticking with my dot com and dot net domains.

It's slightly funny seeing that ".tk" name because is any first person shooter video game, TK stands for Team Kill or Team Killer! I wouldn't want that as my name, but the problem is many many people know what that is and people are surely going to laugh at it! :D
