PocketDiVX (http://www.projectmayo.com/projects/detail.php?projectId=9) will play the DiVX files. What I have been doing is using Dr. DiVX (http://www.divx.com/divx/) to encode the movies for mobile devices and then playing them on PocketMVP (http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_players/pocketmvp.cfm)

The playback is very nice, even off of my MicroDrive.

Does anyone know whether the latest PocketMVP can play movies encoded as DivX5.1.1?

Thanks!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it does. I've been using XVid lately with good results. You can check out this PocketMVP forum, (http://www.corecodec.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=PNphpBB2&file=index&c=8&sid=cac802ae4785c47abdf35e4b05828484) which should answer all your questions about encoding for PMVP.

question, what if one doesn't have to time/resources/or energe to encode?

I'd love to be able to download codecs (preferable to SD) and run vids same as on my pc. I this to much to ask for?
