One such device, of course, is Motorola's new MPx. The MPx takes the concept of a "folder" design to an entirely new level, having two hinges that work in different directions. This allows the device to work like a conventional folder, and also like a communicator (like the Nokia 9000 series).

The combined keyboard/keypad on the MPx has caused a bit of a stir due to its rather unconventional design. It is to be used like a normal numeric keypad when oriented vertically, and as a alphabetic keyboard when turned 90 degrees. As such, the keys are pretty odd looking. It is worth noting that each separate key consists of a white and black section, there are not separate white and black rows of keys. When in keyboard orientation, the white keys are what you would get by using the shift key. We've seen other designs of the keyboard in illustrations that make this much more clear, and we can only hope that design will be used on production models..."

Best shots I've seen to date - they show how thin the MPx really is.

Will this have Smartphone OS, or PPC OS?

Anyone know what happened to the MPX220, which was widely discussed in mobile forums a couple months ago, and now one sees nothing about? Is that still coming out, or has it been totally eclipsed by this MPx model (which seems to be what was formerly named MPx300)? (MPx220 being the successor to the currently available MPX 200, including Bluetooth, and supposed to be available on T-Mobile.) Has Motorola decided to scrap the 220 for this new MPx?

Absolutely ............ revolting! What IS the fuss about this? It is the most hideous bit of kit I've seen in a long time!

It's really interesting how people either hate or love the MPx (or the pictures of it, at least)! Anyone else heard of a rumoured device creating such an opinion schism?

Sweet pics, ultraman! It looks like some of the keys are un-evenly lit... :?
