Does anyone know what Belkin styli are made of?

I broke one recently, and looking at the broken surfaces I don't think it's plastic. I've also noticed that if I press hard with it on paper it leaves a (faint) black mark; and if I use it for a while with sweaty hands it leaves a black mark there. So I'm almost tempted to think something like a really hard pencil lead.

Anyone know for sure?

The one for my 5555 is made of metal. With plastic inserts. Sounds like you are talking about one for something else?

The ones I have come in a pack labelled "Belkin Pro Series", "HP IPAQ compatible", "for HP iPAQ H3800, H3900, and H5400".

Oops, doesn't actually mention 5500 series. But they fit in the slot, and they're the only replacement styli I've been able to find that do. Definitely not metal.

Oh, and they "come with a Belkin Lifetime Warranty", but I rather doubt that means they won't shatter if one drops them.
