So you pre-order it without even knowing what you're going to pay for it?

Been vaporware for so long I'm still skeptical.

haha, what? But I don't know what I'll end up paying. Do they mean reserve an order?

yes as it mentions you wont be charged until you confirm you want to, so it's more of a reservation than an order

Pre-ordering

The OQO has "been around" for three or four years. I really wonder how the company can stay in business without selling any units.

Lots and lots of venture capital!

But it has that new-fangled 802.11b and USB 1.1....

oh, nevermind...

Seems like they might update a few things if they don't plan on releasing it until September.

The OQO will replace my e805, here's why:

1. I think they are finally going to release it this fall/winter.

2. I don't think PPC will break the 1 GHz barrier anytime soon.

3. 20 GB is better than anything PPC will soon offer.

4. It has everything: USB, FireWire, BT and Wi-Fi.

5. I don't think any PPC will offer a 5" 800 by 480 W-VGA screen.

6. I doubt many PPC's offer 256 MB RAM.

7. The LED keyboard/TrackStik setup looks unbelievably good.

8. The digital pen looks incredible.

9. This is XP, not something close that doesn't quite match up.

10. It has an ambient light sensor and a free-fall detector.

11. It has all the cool extras like a docking station.

I just want to say thanks to Toshiba for making my last PPC hurrah perfect. Will PPCT have an OQO forum?

Check it out!

My big qualm about 256Mb of RAM is that yes, no PPC will have that for at least a little while. Have you run WinXP on 256MB of RAM? It ain't too speedy.

Expansys seems to have the nack of releasing products waaay before there expected time on the market and keeping them to an extreme extent past the time of their death (and discontinuation).

I like it :D

XP runs fine with 256 MB of RAM. I don't notice much difference at all on PC's with 256, 512, or 1024 MB of RAM running XP, except for apps that are very intensive. Even PhotoShop would run fine though on 256 MB.
