I was given an ipaq Foldable keyboard with no documentation etc. I've installed the drivers, but when I pop the ipaq on the k'board, nothing happens.

I've tried soft booting, reinstalling drivers etc. Any idea what's up?

There should be a new entry under Start Menu -> Programs for the keyboard. In there will be an option to enable/disable it. Enable it, drop the iPaq into the keyboard and you should be good to go. I don't actually have a foldable keyboard, so ymmv.

What are you using for a PocketPC... that may answer your question right there...

I've tried, enabling keyboard, and all that. No joy. The keyboard does not need power right?

It has to have batteries installed.

Again, which model of iPAQ do you have?

It has to have batteries installed.
Only if it's an infrared keyboard - but it sounds to me like he has the keyboard that plugs into the serial port, which draws power from the PPC.

A few questions dud_ley - first of all, when you go to Start/Programs, does the keyboar driver icon say "iPAQ KB"? Also, what version (including build) are you running? You can get this info on the "About" tab. Finally, it really would help if you could tell us what kind of iPaq you have - there are some that are incompatible with the serial connector on the folding keyboards.

I had specified ipaq in last subject but it's hard to see it in the view.

iPaq H2200
MS Pocket PC 2003 (4.20.1081 b13100)

Programs lists "iPAQ Foldable Keyboard"
It has 'Enable keyboard' checked.

I switch it off, dock it - nothing.
Switch it on, dock it - nothing.

Your time and effort is very much appreciated btw.

cheers.

Ok, now we're getting somewhere!

Is this the keyboard you have?

Also, this may be a stupid question, but have you tried typing something in Pocket Word? The reason I ask is that if you're using the keyboard above with the correct driver, nothing should pop up on your screen when you plug it in - you should hear a chime, but that's it.

That the keyboard alright. A lovely piece of technology - if it worked :(.

There's no recognition at all when i dock it. No sound, timer, nada. i've tried typing in everything! Not a pickle.

Version 3.03 looks correct - I'm assuming you downloaded from here (http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/HandheldiPAQ/us/download/19635.html)?

Did you uninstall the old driver before installing the new one? Soft resets between? If not, I'd uninstall both drivers, soft reset, install 3.03 again, soft reset, and see if it works. If it doesn't, I'm pretty sure you've got a bad unit.

Try swapping for another unit... it could just be bad.

Or activesync might still be running on the PPC itself in which case the keyboard doesnt connect.

Check if activesync is running on the PPC and if it does KILL IT.
