I'm looking into picking up an extra battery for my X5, so I decided to hunt around and see if Dell was the only place to get them. I've come across several places that sell aftermarket batteries in both the 1440 and 3800 mAh varieties, but I'm kinda leary. Has anyone had any experience with non-Dell made batteries in the Axims? I really wouldn't like to buy one, only to find out it shorts my Axim out or something.

Here're a couple that I've found. The price is nice, but that's kinda what scares me. You get what you pay for?

It looks like those are refurbished batteries, rather than 3rd party. I had a refurbished Axim battery (direct from Dell) and it was just fine.

That said, I wouldn't EVER buy a battery not made by the OEM - they have a tendency to do fun things like melt and explode.
