Over the course of the past couple of years, several companies have offered services for buying and downloading various types of video clips for viewing on the Pocket PC. Unfortunately, even the best among them (including the now-defunct Mazingo) had a hard time making any real money. Now there's a new Australian entrant to the marketplace, called m-Vision, that promises to deliver all KINDS of video content to your Pocket PC.

"m-Vision is a video entertainment service available to users who have a Windows Mobile 2002 or higher edition of Pocket PC, Pocket PC Phone or Smartphone. There is a variety of content channels available depending on your content preferences.

"As part of our 'Basic Content Package,' you can choose from a variety of different content channels including:

• Music
• Video Horoscopes
• Movie Releases
• Videos from TheBestMix Music Competition
• Home Shopping (Australia Only)
• International Business
• Australian Sports Scoreboard
• International Sports
• Weather Reports both for Australia, Asia Regional and Worldwide
• Tips on using your Pocket PC
• Australian Business and Finance

Depending upon just what kinds of content you want and the contract length, pricing ranges from around $5.00 to $15.00 per month. I had some trouble finding a detailed listing of EXACTLY what you can download, but I did notice a variety of subscription categories.

I like the idea of being able to easily buy and download stuff like movies or TV show episodes; I'd sign up in a flash for the right kind of service. The services offered so far, though, have suffered from problems like strange pricing schemes and meager selection, so I hope that companies like m-Vision can get a better handle on this market.
