Turn off automatic e-mail download - newbie here

I use 2 pop3 accounts on my iPaq 4155 that I have duplicates of on my home machine. They're not setup to synchronize with activesync because I use Eudora for e-mail on my computer. Everytime I plug my PPC into its cradle for synchronizing it downloads my messages.

Is there a way to turn this automatic feature off? I only want it to download messages when I tell it to if I'm on the road.

You should just open activesync on your desktop computer
and under options it lists everything that is being sync'ed.

e-mail
contact
calendar
etc.

Just un-check e-mail and then it will not sync anymore.

i'm not using activesync to download e-mail, its not setup in activesync.

under the options list i'm only using:

contacts
favorites
files
avantgo

is there a way to keep it form connecting to the web on my network so it doesn't download my messages and just syncs what i've selected?
