Janak mentioned PocketExam in a previous post. It has a nice set up. The best part is that the developer provided a desktop version for user to create flash cards/exams.

But it doesn't work on my WM2003 device :( .

I am officially freaking out over my PMP exam. And find myself in desperate need of a Flash Card app.

Searching over Handango I found the following Flash Card apps.
FlashCard 101 (http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?productType=2&optionId=1_2_2&jid=6792E7361D76XB8DC653B6C39EBDX3AA&platformId=2&siteId=1&productId=88749§ionId=0&catalog=30&txtSearch=study+student) (ARM, XScale) by myPocket technologiesTM $9.99

Pocket Flash Cards (http://www.dinlow.com/pflashcards/) by Dinlow $19.99

Can you recommend a good Flash Card app? It doesn't have to be freeware. But desktop input is a must for me.

Thanks in advance.

You may want to look at http://www.handymed.com/HandyCards/index.htm. I've used it on an E-125 for some time and have been very happy with it. I believe it's written in VisualBasic and presume it will run on a 2003 machine. Perhaps you could email the author and ask, if you are interested, as he was always good about responding.

Thank you for your response. I did try PocketExam but could not get it to work properly on my device. I had emailed the developer. Hopefully I would hear back.

HandyCards sounds really good. Except it would not work on WM2003 :?.

I also found out Flash Cards 101 could only allow 190 characters. I wish my Questions and Answers are that short.

I just emailed the developer of Pocket Flash Cards. Hopefully this app would work for me.

I just remembered-ScaryBear Software also has a FlashCard App, called Fla****. Here's the link http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_fi_overview.html
I believe you can create the questions/answers in any text editor. I haven't tried this one.

Hi Drop...

I just tested the software on my Hp2210 and it seem to work ok... not an easy app to use... but it works. You need to build the form on your desktop and then move the file over to your pda. Also note that the exe file is written for the pda so there is no installer... just move it over to your My Documents and open it from there.

If you can detail where the problem is I someone could walk you through it.

Thanks, Ripper04. So there is hope yet :) .

I have PocketExam installed on my Axim. And I used PocketExamBuilder to enter the questions and answers. Saved as .pex file and synced to Axim. PocketExam opened the file all right. But I could not scroll through the questions. The only thing I was able to do with it was to change the background and font color.

I know that this is somewhat unorthodox but a friend of mine introduced me to listpro as a revision aid during exams. It may occasionally be a bit slow on a pocketpc with a large file but the ability to create checklists and submenus with notes convinced me to try this program!

Takes a bit of getting used to (trial it first) but i used it as a revision aid and it worked great!

Thank you for your offer Ripper014.

I wonder if the problem is with the Builder. I couldn't do any multiple choice. Here is what I get from the "Flash Card" mode.

<Exam>
<Author></Author>
<Title></Title>
<Item>
<Question>What is the temperature?</Question>
<Type>2</Type>
<Answer>
<Text>Too cold.</Text>
<IsCorrect>1</IsCorrect>
</Answer>
</Item>
<Item>
<Question>Was there water on Mars?</Question>
<Type>2</Type>
<Answer>
<Text>I dunno.</Text>
<IsCorrect>1</IsCorrect>
</Answer>
</Item>
</Exam>

Thanks for your suggestion, tanalasta. I love ListPro and use it all the time. It is a wonderful tool. If you find an "unorthodox" way to use a tool, more power to ya :lol: .

ListPro is another option. I just want to see if there are other apps which specialize in helping users study.

Thanks.

I was actually hoping you could e-mail me the pex file so I could try it... or I then if it didn't work I could redo it and return it to you. I think it could be that you are entering the data incorrectly with the editor. I know I had troubles with it the first time I used it. The format is a little funny until you know how it is set up. PM me... if you want to do this... or I'll tell you what I will PM you.

HandyCards sounds really good. Except it would not work on WM2003 :?.
I was just scanning through old posts and came across your statement above. Actually it will run on your device, but you will need to install Microsoft's runtime files, which are free. I've got detailed instructions on how to install the runtime files on the HandyMed site. Please e-mail me if you have further questions about this process at HandyMed<spam>@HandyMed.com (remove <spam>).
http://www.HandyMed.com/HandyCards

As a brief introduction, please note that I just released a major upgrade to HandyCards, adding many new features including six new testing algorithms to enhance learning efficiency. Also, HandyCards has a number of desktop data entry methods. You can see the full press release here:

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
