The "Feature Stories" on the main page aren't working for me. I think your automatic ad program is making them ads instead of links to the stories.

Thanks

If it works for anyone else, please tell me.

I am referring to the "Geocaching with your Pocket PC" and the other one.

They are indeed run through the ad engine as it makes it easier for Jason to do rotations of the stories, but they work fine for me. What's the error you get?

Hi Janak.

When I click on one of them it just doesn't load. I get a blank page and in the address bar it is just the address of an ad. Nothing loads. Well, I'm glad it's just me and not a problem with Thoughts.

Hmm. Are you running any special ad-remover software? If not, try clearing your browser's cache and try again...

Badandy - what OS and web browser are you using?

Badandy

-Windows XP
-ZoneAlarm Firewall
-Norton AV
-AvantBrowser

AvantBrowser....Its an IE world out there. A lot of sites only test pages with IE or Netscape/Mozilla and the other "fringe" browsers may experiance problems. I would try and load the page with IE and see if it works for you.

Actually, AvantBrowser uses the IE engine, so I doubt that would be the problem...I don't think AB even has an ad or pop-up blocker. Might be ZoneAlarm if the pages are served from a different site.

If he tries to load the page with IE and it works then it points to browser trouble....if it doesn't load then it would point to something else like Zone Alarm....Either way it will be a good toruble shooting tip.

I would indeed try running IE for the heck of it. However, Avant Browser does use the IE engine and my coworker surfs this site using Avant Browser every day... unless badandy has some bizarre option turned on in it.

Incidentally, Vulcan, this site works fine with IE, Mozilla/Firebird, Konqueror, you name it. 8) I use Firebird, myself.

Actually, AvantBrowser does have a pop-up blocker.

One sec, lemme try it in IE>

Didn't work. When I click "geocaching with your pocket pc" my browser directs me to

Have you tried rebooting?

(I have no clue.)

Badandy,

Did you try clearing out the cache?

The URL you posted here is

http://sponsors.thoughtsmedia.com/phpads2/adclick.php?bannerid=57&zoneid=8&source=&
dest=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sponsors.thoughtsmedia.com%2Farticles.php%3Faction%3Dexpand%2C20380

But the URL I get on the frontpage is

http://sponsors.thoughtsmedia.com/phpads2/adclick.php?bannerid=57&zoneid=8&source=&
dest=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pocketpcthoughts.com%2Farticles.php%3Faction%3Dexpand%2C20380

Note the dest tags (on the second line) are substantially different. This makes me suspect you have an "old version" of the links or something.

hmmm. I have cleared cache. At least on AB, I can go to tools-->clear records and it clears everything.

I see that the links are different. Very strange. Lemme try on MSN.

Doesn't work on my msn either.

Weird. :| Can you get to the Articles using the "ARTICLES" link on the left side of the frontpage?

Janak- I just tried your link. It works perfectly. Strange though...

Could it be your provider? AIR, many folks had problems losing the "Palm Rulz" grafitti from last April Fool's day because their provider cached the page......(or something like that).

Badandy

I don't think it's the provider. With the link Janak gave me I accessed it fine..

Janak-Yes, I can click on the articles link.

that's because the link Janak posted was the correct one, when you selected the one on the page originally, you were routed to a cached page link as were the folks who looked at "Palm Rulz" for two weeks.

IIRC, Zonealarm now includes ad blocking features, doesn't it? Try disabling zone alarm...
