I have a weird question.

Do you know of any RPGs with really good soundtracks? I hate playing video games with crappy music to them.

Also, I'm thinking about buying a console, but I'm not sure which one to get. Whatever one has the most RPGs with good music to them will be my pick - I just need someone to tell me which to choose.

Yeah

I don't know if it's what you're looking for, but GTA: Vice City has a great soundtrack, if you like 80's music that is... You can get that on PS2 and PC, I like it better on the PC though.

See, I thought Chrono Cross had a great soundtrack, not because the music itself was great, or of a particular era, but because the music so perfectly befit the scenes of the game.

Yeah, I figured this is too vague of a question to ask. :(

You could buy a Gamecube. They are $99US. When you go to the store look for the one with the Zelda pack. It comes with a disc that has the original Zelda (NES), Zelda 2 (NES), and the two 64 Zelda games.

I second that! I actually bought the box set of the soundtracks for that game. 7 CD's of mostly great eighties stuff.

Well, since you asked about RPGs specifically, Neverwinter Nights (http://nwn.bioware.com) has an awesome soundtrack. All the files are just MP3 files with a different extension, located in the game's Music directory. Do a mass rename and load them into your MP3 player of choice. Between the original game, the Shadows of Undrentide (http://nwn.bioware.com/shadows/) and the new Hordes of the Underdark (http://nwn.bioware.com/underdark/) expansion packs, there is over five full hours of instrumental music. Many of the battle soundtracks are between ten and fifteen minutes long.

If you're just interested in music from games, Interplay has a site (http://www.interplay.com/interact/downloadlist.asp?Dltype=1) where you can download MP3s of the music from many of their games. The Baldur's Gate series has some good music. There is also some good stuff at the Neverwinter Vault (http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/sounds/categories/).
