Does the USB cradle have any additional functionalities over the cable ? Or is it simply convenient ?

I just bought one and the only thing it really does extra is charge a spare battery if you have one. I don't have a spare battery so this doesn't apply to me. In fact, the cable has one advantage over the cradle. You can sync and charge your 1945 while still in some cases. If I had it to do over I would have probably put my 50 bucks into something else. Just my 2 cents.

So, other than charging a spare battery, there's really nothing that only the cradle is capable of doing ?
