Pocket Informant 4.6.1 and PIToday 1.0 Released

No new features and the list of bug fixes hasn't been released, but this statement impressed me. <i>"4.6.1 contains many backported fixes from version 5.0 in development and we don't have a full list of the changes at this time. However, 4.6.1 contains no new features - only bug fixes."</i><br /><br />So, they are hard at work on 5.0, which will undoubtedly fix bugs in 4.6. Rather than forcing you to upgrade to get these fixes, they are putting these fixes into 4.6! We all know that many software makers for Pocket PCs and PCs put bug fixes into new releases and charge you for those upgrades. Huge kudos to the Pocket Informant team for swimming against the tide on this. :way to go:<br /><br />PIToday 1.0 has also been released. The differences I can discern so far:

- new header layout when Show Task Breakdown is enabled in Tasks View

- option to only show names in Contacts View (although this may have been there before but I didn't notice it)

Looks like the code is just for buying it on the PIToday website only. I went ahead and bought it from the affliate link since it only saved a little more than a dollar and I like buying from Handandgo so I can always re-download it easily. And the to support this website. :wink:

At least the header layout is new. Now the Overdue/Due Today icons are over top of the high importance/low importace icons, whereas they (Overdue/Due Today) used to be on the left. There's a new % complete layout now also.

One little thing. I was using the free version of PIToday and just installed the new one after buying it from Handango using a discount code. Now I have two PIToday plugins.

How do I get rid of the old one? Any ideas would be welcome.

Hi,
I would like to say a few words.
Firstly, I am sorry about the promotion codes. It's the first time I sell somthing at online stores so it's my fault also.

Anthony, I did say that you should uninstall any beta version prior to install Version 1.0
I had to change the setup completely for a few reasons and this breaks the old install/uninstall. So now the best method for you is to uninstall v1.0, install your older beta, uninstall your older beta (according to the readme that came with the beta) and install v1.0 again. If that does not fix your double-plugin-issue give me an email.

What's different to the public beta version? Well, I would say a lot. First, it does not contain an time bomb for 01/01/2004. ;) In addition I would say there are a few neat additions and last not least it is much more stable.

Sorry to complain, as your software really does answer alot of problems with e.g calender plus etc e.g showing the icons and preventing the dreaded "scrolling today screen" horror. Unfortunately to me its not $10 worth more better than the free alternatives. I would however buy it in a heartbeat (or 2) for $5. I know this is the first time you are selling your software, but I suggest you got the price point wrong this time.


Anyways, brilliant software, but when it bombs on the 1/1/4, it will be un-installed :(

I did have the same problem. I solved it the easy way: just delete the duplicated registry entry. You don´t have the old and the new plugin, you just have the new one two times. If you dont want to edit the registry, use remover, wich is freeware.

I loaded the Wisbar Advanced and have a problem in that I can't get the programs menu to stay open when I tap the "Open" icon. Perhaps it may be a conflict between SPB Pocket Plus, PI Today and Wisbar. I sure get tired of getting myself into trouble. Why do I insist on breaking it when it's working? Is this a PDA geek issue? Thank God for PC Backup's restore feature...otherwise I'd be in really deep do-do.

I had the same problem. Just turned off Wisbar Advance. Now I'm using PPX and there's no issue. :D
