http://webis.hosting4less.com/Themes/Genesis.tsk

There is some great artwork at The Gallery Of Greg Martin and one of his images has been converted to a Pocket PC theme by Alex Kac, the author of Pocket Informant.

I though you might enjoy looking at it or even trying it out. I switched to it about a month ago and have been meaning to post on it. Most of Greg Martin's images come in a variety of sizes for desktop wallpaper as well.

This is great. Is this the only piece of art work that has been converted? I went to the site and didn't see any others. What was used to convert the art work to a theme?

I've seen a few from Digital Blasphemy (http://www.digitalblasphemy.com/dbhome.shtml). But I don't know if they were done with the permission of the creator.

The Greg Martin site says you are welcome to use his art for personal use, so you can make your own themes if you choose from the images on his site.

When I've done similar things, I've imported the image into a graphics program such as Photoshop or Fireworks. You can then make it the right size for the PPC theme. (I think it's 293 x 240 pixels).

To make themes I use Thememaker McDeb from www.mcdeb.com This is a version of the Kamware program which you will find at www.kamware.com There is also a free program to make themes at the Microsoft PPC site, but I don't like this so much.

Making you own themes is a great way to personalise your Pocket PC.

Thanks dh & ctmagnus for the info.

Do you think McDeb is better than the theme maker from Poketpcthemes?

I can't try either yet, as my PPC still hasn't arrived from the States.

Does the graphic have to be in jpeg or bmp format for McDeb to convert it?

I am collecting pictures now to try to convert as soon as the unit arrives. My favourite art work are abstract sculptures, fractal designs, and art designs that flow, so I am on the look out for that type of art.

Thanks again for your help.

Cheers
Paula :)

To be honest Paula, I think the best theme program is the Kamware one. I bought the McDeb one because Debbie McCormick (probably destroyed the spelling here) does a lot of good things in the PPC community and I wanted to support her.

I use JPEG for the images. I don't know if bmp will work as well.

When you finish your themes, be sure to post them where we can see them. Mine are http://www.pocketpcthemes.com/profile.asp?ID=36510 but I haven't posted any new ones for ages.

dh,
Thanks for the information. I finally got my PPC and just about ready to try my hand at creating themes. I have been searching the web for some great pics. As soon as I can create good looking themes I will put them somewhere. I have downloaded quite a few from PocketThemes so more then likely i will put them there.
