My wife is anxious to switch her cell phone from T-Mob to Verizon due to coverage at her office. Can Verizon phones do SMS messages to external services, like T-Mobile?

Yup. Works great. Slightly less reliable than intra-carrier, though; I'd guess 1 or 2 out of every 100 messages gets dropped.

Thanks. If they had a BT model, I'd switch too.

Seems Verizon doesn't even have a CF card available for Pocket PCs. :?

Correct. The AirCard 555 (PC card) does have Pocket PC support, but it's also only 2002 as far as I know. :|

I wish sprint had the I700, or any other phone that I could really use with my pocketpc. I'm in the process of trying out t-mobile now. It's a tuff decision cause I have a sprint cf card which works great but i'm getting tired of carring that sleeve with me. I picked up the T610 and so far I think it's great, speed isn't as fast as sprint but it does have bluetooth :D

Anyone know why Verizon is holding out on BT phones? I talked to a sales rep here in DC and he said VZ has no interests in BT because it is too unreliable.

I don't buy that, unlike Ed. ;) From what I've heard, it's because VZW (and Sprint) are afraid that people will use cheap 1xRTT "phone" plans to support their laptops and PDAs, and they don't have a pricing structure in place to support BT operation. No, this doesn't make any sense to me. :|
