Looks to me like they are missing a big part of the market with the devices that do have consumer IR... but then, is this software as good as Nevo? For my J568, I used PDAWin's TVRemote because it supported the Philips Pronto CCF files. For anyone using this software, how does it compare?

Heh, posted at the same minute. Those admins are sure on top of things. :D

Now I just wish a remote app would work on the XDA II. NONE of them work. Actually, since the IR on it isn't CIR, I wish Total Remote would work on it.

Especially since I already own one that is now useless. :)

If you ever plan on purchasing another PPC, you don't want to deal with UltraMote. The vendor does not permit you to transfer the license to your new PPC; in fact if your current PPC is run over by a truck, you have to plead with them to allow you to transfer the license to the replacement machine. Any "upgrade" is only available at the full purchase price of the original software.

Also, TV Remote (http://www.pdawin.com) is an infinitely superior product available for less $. It supports voice commands and can use the large library of existing commercial remote controler patters and screens available for the dedicated Phillips remotes at Remote Central (http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/files/rcfiles.cgi?area=pronto)

I made the mistake of purchasing U-Mote before learning about the alternatives. Do some research first.

I'm hardly an expert. I tried both. Ultramote had only learning mode (so far as I could see quickly). Before I had "learned" 4 functions, it complained it was out of learning memory and told me to press buttons faster. When I tried to remove it, I could not find the uninstall.

In contrast, TVRemote already knew the codes for my TV. It uninstalled correctly.

TVRemote looks better to me, but that's based on a 15-second evaluation. I hope some other, more experienced users will throw in their 2 cents.

Be wary of TV Remote from PDAWin. I had a Toshiba E740 and upgraded to a E755 and found out that TV Remote is not supported on the 755. So I purchased Total Remote and went through the process of relearning all my devices.

I tried to use TVRemote for a Sharp TV after downloading a couple of CCF files......nope.......no go.
