Just signed up too. Too bad it doesn't tell you if you are within the first 5,000 or not. Thanks for the tip.

Iowa is not illegible for this?

No, they have some Pocket PC version - I imagine when you specify that you have a Pocket PC they'll send out the Pocket PC versions. At least, I hope they would. ;-)

BTW, it's for people in the US only. :(

:)

I like that they have Age of Empires for the Pocket PC as well. Guess I'll have to go shopping after I finish this form for the freebie.

I've never gotten/bought a commercial MMC / SD card (with preloaded software). Does anyone know if you can erase these things and use them as a (albeit small) storage card?

Thanks Jason. I signed up. I hope I'm one of the 5,000. I asked for the Sega pack. Does anyone know if you can copy the software off the card so that I do not have to have the card in to play?

I asked for the Sega pack.
I think the Sega Pack is only for Palm, as it wasn't listed on the Pocket PC page. Hopefully they'll look at the device information and let you know if you asked for something incompatible.

I asked for the Atari Retro card. 8)

Jason, can't you pull some strings and make them ship out to Canada, too? Arrrgghh!

I signed up for the Atari Retro card......
And you SHOULD be able to format it and use it as an extra storage card, since it is a simple SD/MMC card. (although it will likely be a small one)

Also, I am going to try to copy the data over to my 256MB card so I don't have to put it in each time , just to use it.

Then I have another card for my camera!! 8)

Looks like the Dictionary and Thesaurus card is PPC compatible, too. If you look a the product page for each of the freebies, you'll see whether it list Windows Mobile/Pocket PC. Plus, the Dictionary/Thesaurus shows a PPC screenshot in MobiPocket reader.

I'm more excited about the free SD card than I am about the software. Anyone know how big they are?

Dang! I didn't even look at what system they are for. Oh well, I'll just give it to my brother. He has one of those Palm 505.

No, wait...I'm sure there's a PPC version too. It came with my iPaq H3870. So I'm guessing that's the one you'll get.

Well, I chose Atari---now we'll have to see if I was one of the 5,000!

I did notice, though, that Dell is not on the list of compatible devices for the Atari---wonder if that's an oversight, or if it really won't work---anybody know?

I just ordered mine... good stuff.

I just hope they fall for my address (military overseas addresses can be tricky unless the site is KIND enough to include us in their addressing forms).

Well, it's not a problem of being big. Mobipocket is the only Reader MDM could have chosen... runing on all PDA types, dictonary/frames/audio functions.
I'm pretty sure the card will work on any PDA, so that you can update your device and it will go on working.

Anybody here who knows of a "remailer"?

And not the electronic one...

I'm sick and tired of lots of stuff i simply cant get because i dont live in US.
I can understand that some companies dont want the hassle with sending overseas, different currencies, shipping and customs.

But isnt there someone out there who has specialized in forwarding stuff for a fee?

I registered as soon as I saw this post. Did anyone get any response from the company, a confirming e-mail or anything? I didn't get any response back as far as I can recall.

I haven't heard anything. I don't recall even getting an e-mail from the company. I wonder if it was just a plan to get thousands of e-mail addresses fro free to send out spam to. hmmm. Does anyone have any experience ordering from this company?

Pat Logsdon

It appears as though this is NOT a scam. How do I know, you ask?

I got home and found a generic Jiffy envelope containing - you guessed it - an Atari Retro card with Adventure, Asteroids, Breakout, Centipede, Pong and Yar's Revenge! 8)

I signed up back in November and just got my Atari retro pack yesterday. It also comes with an exciting plastic SD card case that can hold multiple cards! :D

OK, it's not that exciting. It will carry 4 cards though. Great for tossing in a backpack or briefcase.

I just came to check back here to ask if anyone had heard anything. I just received the first email newsletter from them, but nothing about whether or not I was one of the lucky ones. Guess I'll have to wait and see if it comes in the next few days.

Thanks all for the update.

Same for me, I just got the newsletter via e-mail. Can anyone who got the card in the mail recently indicate whether they got a newsletter e-mail as well? Maybe there is a correlation from being one of the first lucky ones and getting the newsletter - as of yesterday 1/21 I haven't received anything in the mail - I'm hoping! 0X (I think this guy has his fingers crossed!)

:) I requested my card on 18 Nov 2003. I received the Atari retro 8mb MMC card about a week ago. The software on it is for both PocketPC and Palm, and only takes up about 1.5mb. I wondered if the card would be read-only, but it is in fact read-write.

It also came with an SD/MMC case that can hold up to six cards. :|

Nothing so far, so I guess I wasn't one of the lucky 5000.

Since then, I've tried the Atari demo. While I liked it, it didn't seem worth the 29.99 USD they're asking for it. So I'll wait and see if one of these days the price drops.

Well, it looks like I am screwed. The card seems to be a ROM MMC. See this documentation and tell me if I am missing something:

MXIC Web Site - Palm and RandMcnally Travel Card (http://www.macronix.com/QuickPlace/hq/PageLibrary48256D9D002BA613.nsf/h_Toc/353474D2F0B57B8848256D9F000BF308/?OpenDocument)

From the MMCA web site: "MultiMediaCards use ROM or flash technology for read-only applications, and flash technology for read/write applications."

I didn't know there was a read only version of MMC cards...
