Jornada 568's Day/Time Scrolling Into the Future

My Jornada 568 has up till now behaved quite well. Last week, though, it informed me that it was trying to delete all the data in RAM and asked if that was OK. I said No. Then I performed a soft reset, and started getting alarm notifications of events scheduled far in the future and the system day/time automatically increased itself a day or week at a time. I performed a hard reset when the year got to 2054. I installed no outside programs.

The 568 worked fine until today. The battery got low, and the whole sequence started over again. The year is now 2010 and moving into the future.

Can anyone tell me what's wrong and how to fix it?

If it is doing this after a hard reset, there are only 2 thing I can think of you can do.

1) remove and reseat both batteries (main and backup) and see if a contict as out of whack.
