Currently have a 2210/15 and am mostly happy with it, although it is more sluggish than the older 3970. If don't really care about the inbuilt wifi or keyboard are there really any differences between 2210/15 and the new 4155/4355 models?

Wow. I'm REALLY surprised about the 22xx being sluggish compared to the 39xx. Not that the 39xx is supposed to be slow, but I was under the impression the 22xx was supposed to be FAST.

Yes, at first it seems like the 2210 is pretty fast (which it is really), but we have couple of people that travel with the 3970 and couple of people that travel with the 2210 and while the 2210 is better in most respects when it comes to generally opening apps / email etc the 3970 is instant whereas the 2210 is slower and more sluggish. Still prefer the 2210 though. But what about the 4xxx series - is the only diff between these and the 2xxx series the inbuilt wifi / keyboard? Are there performance differences??

2215 has a CF slot; 4155 has wifi, 4355 has wifi and keyboard.

Performance, don't know. The 4150 is decently smaller then the 2215 also, without the poorly designed rubber grips(would be great if they stayed on, lame cause they don't).

You dont even have the 2215 and my grips stay on quite nicely thankyou very much!

With the 4150 you loose the CF slot and gain the built in WiFi (as compared to the 2215)

No I don't but I read the forums, and don't lie, you're on your SECOND set of grips already aren't you!

The grips are fine on mine. Guess there's no real reason to upgrade from 2210 unless you want the built in wifi or the keyboard. But if buying new I'd probably go for the 4xxx just for the wifi which I never use but may come in handy without need to attach it as a card.

Right, I don't think it's really an "upgrade" or a "downgrade", it's just a different variation of features.

The 2215 is sluggish in waking up compared to the 3970, and moreso if there is a CF card in the CF slot. Once on though, the 2200 trounces the 3900 series in performance, at least perceived performance. Don't know about actual benchmarks.

Well all I know is that I'm great with my 2200 and WLAN cards, Nevo, and CF slot, and I'm also great without a yellow screen, however un-noticeable it is on the 4XXX series.

But to each his own indeed...
