problem with sd card

hi guys,
every once in a while my ipaq does not detect an sd being plugged in into the slot.
after i turn of the ipaq and reinsert the sd card, all works fine, until one day when suddenly ipaq does not detect card again.
again, taking out card and putting it back in solves problem

whats causing this?
any1 face this before?
is this normal?

Which iPAQ? The 38xx units would occasionally flake out in reading SD cards. I found that a soft-reset would be a good cure for a few weeks, and then it would occasionally get confused. The last ROM update helped a bit, too.

Unfortunately, I don't have a permanent solution. :cry:

sorry i should have been more specific
mine's a ipaq3970
currently using WM2003
i was also experiencing the same thing previously when i was using ppc2002

Have you tried the unlock/lock switch on the card - that might help.
