I can tell you, though, that if I ever get motivated to whip my svelte 6'3", 210-pound physique into shape, these are the features I'd look for in a Pocket PC-based health and exercise tracking tool.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/adrian/mobilecoach.gif" /><br /><br />"Log foods, graph calorie distribution, enter workouts with ease, use templates and training plans, analyze data with graphs"<br /><br />Mobile Coach includes the following features:<br /><br />• Familiar calendar style interface for ease of use. Includes day, week, month, food, and reports views. <br />• Food Database with over 3,000 items, and the ability to add in your own food items. <br />• Built in training plans for 5k run, 10k run, marathon, century bike ride, and body for life. <br />• Templates for VERY easy entry of strength workouts. <br />• Drag and drop and cut-copy-paste functions for moving and rescheduling workouts. <br />• Calculate your estimated metabolic rate, calories burned during exercise, calories consumed, and calories remaining for the day. <br />• Displays a pie graph of protein, carbohydrate, and fat intake, along with grams of each. <br />• Includes calorie burn rates for over 45 different activities, and you can add in your own or modify the existing activities. <br />• Calculates pace and speed for distance activities like running, biking, or swimming. <br />• Extensive measurements logging lets you keep track of your progress in up to 17 different areas. <br />• Over 90 different combinations of built in graphs/reports. <br />• Free desktop backup/restore utility, with optional automatic backup every time you synchronize your device.<br /><br />Mobile Coach won't make your wallet much thinner, though. Theres a free demo available and you can get the full licensed version for only $15.99 from <a href="http://www.handango.com/brainstore/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=311&productId=90038">Handango.</a>

Maybe I'm used to having someone try it before I buy, but I was kind of expecting a review, a bit of a "I lost 150kg in only 3 minutes!" kind of thing. lol. Like the tablet adverts.

This app looks pretty slick, but for most people, it just strikes me as a solution that isn't worth the effort. I've been into strength and aerobic training for many years (6-8 hrs/wk), and for the life of me, I can't imagine why I would want to use an application like this. The two groups of people I could see using this are very serious athletes with very serious goals (like winning the Boston Marathon or Mr. Olympia), and people embarking on long term, closely monitored programs to lose a lot of weight (like a hundred pounds). I wouldn't think that those two groups would comprise much of a customer base, especially for a PDA application.

Just got back from working out. I think it is a good program if you want to keep track of your work out which is what everyone should want to do that works out. If not this program then anohter one. I looked at the one that one the software award from pocketpc mag..it was interesting.

Well, I would have reviewed it, but I'm in such perfect physical condition that I wouldn't even know what kind of exercises to do...!

I've got to experiment with this ap since it was in beta, and it is pretty nice. You'd actually b surprised how many people who exercise regularly keep a log. Except for one other ap on the market, this is an area I think the palm aps had an edge. Just look how many times BodyAdvance has been d'ld.

Besides, I just have to find a way to incorporate my PPC into almost every area of my life.

I take it the other app you're speaking about is the excellent "MySportTraining"?

This one looks decent too, but MySportTraining was my main reason for getting a handheld again after my last one died. In the period between pda's I gained weight. Since getting a new PDA and MST, it's dropping again.

I just can't overstate the importance of keeping a food and exercise log. It's my main motivator - the ability (with a polar bike HRM) to upload my heart rate data, record automatically my bike mileage, average speeds, weights lifted, and a million other things is amazing.
