Where is the serial port on the new Pocket PC's ?

And I'm not talking about USB. The serial COM port (RS232) that was very popular a couple years ago seems to be disappearing and/or hidden from the spec. sheets. Heck even the new X3 specs. don't indicate if they have it or not.

Unlike the dim bulbs who created USB and require a host/client architecture, the serial COM port offers itself to be much more flexible and less dependant then USB. USB is only faster. That's it.

For me personally, a serial COM port is a must when purchasing a new device. I don't suppose there is a site somewhere that keeps track of more detailed specs. on all PPC devices and if they have a COM port or not?

Hi Sedwo,

I have got the same problem. I need RS232 on my PPC. Getting this information is very difficult. PPC could have RS232 full spec or RS232TTL only (HW circuit for ... to full RS232 in cable is necessary).

PPC with RS232:
XDA02, Viewsonic V35, Loox600/610, HP iPAQ 5450, 4155;

PPC without RS232 (nor RS232TTL):
HP iPAQ 19xx, Acer n10, Asus 600, Toshiba 330/405, MDA;

I am not sure about this:
Axim Ax5/3, HP iPAQ 22xx;

Can anybody complete/correct this list ??

Peter
