They gave the H4350 higher ratings than <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=171988#171988">the H4150 </a>due to the built-in keyboard and significantly larger battery of the H4350:<br /><br />"All in all, the keyboard--which offers blue backlighting for inputting text in the dark--is superior to the one found on Handspring's Treo 600. The keys are raised and have just enough space between them to prevent mistyping."<br /><br />"Battery life was excellent, owing to the unit's large, high-capacity 1,560mAh battery (the H4150 has a 1,000mAh battery)--clearly, a major reason to pick this model over its keyboard-free sibling."<br /><br />"It's longer than your average Pocket PC, but its integrated keyboard and higher-capacity battery make the H4350 a top choice for heavy Wi-Fi users."

The VOIP sounds interesting. The big question there is how they accomplish the microphone? Looking at the closeup of the keyboard I see two small dots (holes?). What's the chances that one of them is a microphone?

I'm not a huge mini-keyboard person, but with the keyboard + bigger battery + mike for only $50 more, it might be worth it....

Actually Im quite impressed, not as ugly and odd looking as I originally thought it would be! Well done HP for giving the PPC market something different....maybe a hidden, sliding keyboard could improve but not at the sacrifice of thickness!! :)

(8.6/10) This is the highest rated "PDA" in CNet! 8O

Does anyone notice?? Look at the 'design' pages of both of the reviews (4150 and 4350), look at the cases hp includes! It's those confounded "protective canvas slipcovers" that destroyed the h2200's grips!

Well maybe their not as horribly tight as the 2200's is...

hey jason, are you gonna be able to do a review for (or before) the 15th of the 4150/4350? or one or the other?

Amazon is taking pre-orders for the 4350 but it states that it won't be available until Jan 4th. Can that be right?

Info from infosync world on the YELLOW SCREEN ISSUE:
"A HP spokesman confirmed to infoSync World that neither of the displaus of the two models (4150/4350) suffer from yellow tinting, a widely reported problem with the iPAQ h1940 series."

You can read all this at http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/4181.html

Finally, HP admitted that it is a “problem”

Sweet news! 0X However, two years and a month ago, HP reps were telling people, "Our Jornada 560s will have sealed screens and won't suffer from the iPaq's dust problem." Heh. But I'm more optimistic t his time.

What I want to know is when the new iPAQs will reach the UK, and how much they will be when they get here. I've only had my 3870 a year, but I'm looking a newer device - the 19xx series has yellow tinting and lacks WiFi, the 22xx series lacks WiFi, the 5xxx series has WiFi but is too big and too expensive for me, and so I think the 4350 will be a perfect purchase.

Although, I won't be buying until after Christmas, so I'm wondering if its worth the wait until HP bring out some more iPAQs next Spring (??) and either get them, or hope the 4350 is cheaper by then.

Of course, in the short term, I have to wonder whether the WM2003 upgrade will be worthwhile, and whether to get a CF jacket and CF WiFi card.

Well, if there's a good folding BT keyboard (suggestions, anyone? feedback?), there's a handy application right in the review. Use it for IMing and quick e-mail and what not, in the WiFi equipped cafeteria of my current workplace campus. It seems to have the widgets I'd need to VPN in or work in a secure corporate environment....

Oh, and I noted right on the HP specs page Monday that a bigger battery was available as an option. The review says the charger has a slot for a second cell, so there's a home for the standard, wimpy battery while you use the bigger one.

And it finally has a standard size headphone jack. Yeah!!

I've just eliminated two of the reviews' CONS. Sounds like a swank PDA to me. Hey, Santa...!

It' a very nice device, indeed. But I wouldn't buy any PocketPC without phone functionality from now on. I use to own 1940 and SonyEricsson T616 - both excellent devices in terms of both functionality and design, This new iPAQ looks even better, but... I got Siemens SX 56 instead and I am so happy now, I can actually using PocketPC fucntions now, phone portition works like a charm. Have XDA 2 preordered and that will be absolutely perfect device for me with 128 RAM and headset BT profile. But again, I am mostly using my current PDA phone for data transfers such as e-mails end othe online activities and i suits me very well. I am sure, that those new ipaqs will find their happy owners ;)

I was looking at all the pictures of these two devices online and noticed that they both appear to be the same size but the reported dimentions are different. So i grabbed two pics from the same place and resized them until the images on the screens of the two pocket pcs were the same size to the pixel. The 4300 is bigger. It is actually closer to the size of the 2200 but longer. I guess that would explain why the 4300 has a bigger battery. I had just assumed they were the exaxt same size but one with a keyboard. That is what all the pictures told me. :D

4100: 4.47 in x 2.78 in x 0.50 in. (113.6 mm x 70.6 mm x 13.5 mm)
2200: 4.54 in x 3.00 in x 0.61 in. (115.4 mm x 76.4 mm x 15.4 mm)
4300: 5.40 in x 2.90 in x 0.60 in. (138.7 mm x 74.6 mm x 14.5 mm)

But I wouldn't buy any PocketPC without phone functionality from now on.

I share the same thought with ID64, during my long wait for the ultimate PPC Phone, I used different combinations to convert my h5450 into a phone, I tried a GSM/GPRS sleeve (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=17560&highlight=), now I’m using a PC Card Sleeve with GlobeTrotter GSM/GPRS PCMCIA Card (http://www.option.com/products/2_1_1_specifications.shtml) with RVGSM, I am happy with this combination so far, but not as great as the built in capability of the XDA II. This device is top on my list.

Are there any voice/phone cards that will work with this device? I am still searching for a PPC with ALL of the following:

Wifi
Cell Phone
Keypad

It looks like the phone cards are CF type ll and will not work with this :(

I can get all of this in a Palm OS Treo 600, but not a PPC. (By the way the treo 600 is VERY good!!)

I also have the Hitachi T1000. It is a PPC phone w Key pad, but no Wifi (SO card only, not SDIO). Also the Toshiba 755, and its snapin keypad, but the keypad is not very good. The Toshiba does have built-in wifi and CF slot.

Thanks

2 questions on specs. Does anyone know if this unit will have a vibration alert? Also, I'm assuming since an upgraded battery option is being talked about that the battery will be replaceable from the exterior of the 4350. Is this correct? I can't find it anywhere in print that it will be.

To my previous post, I found this spec sheet (http://h18002.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11750_div/11750_div.PDF) today.

Doesn't look like a vibrating alarm is coming and the battery is removable.

Wow That is a good review, but it seems to be rated not so high, at only 8.6?

I love the new designs, but alas I am a fan of the foldable keyboards...

Just a thought, maybe there will be a full size folding keyboard attached to the unit - neato
