From what I have heard, this is the by far the fastest Pocket PC yet in video performance. Several fold increase over the 221x device I am told and an excellent platform for gaming.

I'll believe that when I see it.

I still want the XDA II. I'm tired of carrying both a cell and PDA. I want something with more than 64 MB too.

Thin, light, Compact Flash, and the fastest graphics performance available! As a game developer, I'd love one of these, if I wasn't obsessing over a Smartphone instead.

Drop a GSM radio, and WiFi in it and there you are......

There is a WiFi version of this device as well from what I understand. I am not sure of a combo WiFi/BT device though.

Why can't they make a flip cover at least optional? This thing would be perfectly comfortable in your jeans pocket if it didn't have to balloon when you put it in a case.

If it’s not small it stays home.

If it's not comfortable in my jeans pocket it won't be there and I won't use it unless I carry it in a bag, coat or big clown pants. In which case why not get something a little bigger w/ more features.

I actually got my hands on one yesterday and will hopefully get some pics posted on our site - it will be demoed at our November meeting!

Some points I noticed off the bat:

- bass, treble, and balance controls are there
- IR port is on the left-hand side like the Toshiba
- The screen is really sharp and bright - comparable to the 1910 (and it does have a slight tinge of yellow on the white backgrounds when viewed at different angles - but it is no where as evident as the iPAQ 1930s.
- Really light
- 19 hrs...I'm not sure, but my friend says he's gotten 14 hours out of it
- Very customizable power management settings and simplified settings as well.
- Performance is really snappy

As soon as I can remember anything else, I'll post again!

- oh yeah, their Smartkeeper technology! It's very, very cool! When the battery reaches a certain (low) level, the system automatically performs a backup in the event of a hard reset - even the restore function is very fast! I liken the restore speed and ease to that of Sprite's!

I am so looking forward to receiving mine! (I pre-ordered from Proportable and I'm checking the mail daily.)

IMHO this device is perfect. I don't want a camera -- I have a Casio Exilim for that. I don't want cell phone integration -- I have a small, cheap Nokia for that. Wifi might be nice, but it sucks power and I don't have a wireless network at home or at work so it's not terribly interesting at this point. Bluetooth will let me do some ad-hoc wireless stuff, and possibly some wirless gaming if other people around have BT capability. An SD slot would have been nice, but I'm more than happy to sacrifice that for size. I don't want everything and the kitchen sink -- I just want what it does have to work properly.

I know I'm weird, but I actually like to be able to take only my phone with me. Except in the winter when I have a coat on, I don't often carry my Pocket PC with me everywhere. Of course that could change with this device -- I currently have a 'small' Casio E-125. :|

What I do want is a good gaming device with a compact flash slot that performs well and doesn't fall apart. That's why this is the device for me! :D

Sadly, I dont think we reached that level of miniaturization yet. Perhaps in another year, when silicon wafer processing is down to 30 nm.

We're very close. The XDA II has everything but WiFi -- and you could add that using a SDIO WiFi card, in theory.

Well did u by chance see the new model HP is releasing? 1900 form factor + BT + Wifi.

and since you mentioned miniaturization, have u ever opened a mobile phone to see how small the thing is inside? the camera as well is very small.

The XDA II is a step forward but if they cram all that in a 1900 form factor you have a winner big time

ASUS are experts in making good motherboards; it must be solid quality hardware that contributes to the fact that this device is the best performing Pocket PC in the market. Check the benchmarks; it outperforms all the other devices.
