In Alabama and thinking about abandoning my HP2215 for a cell phone/PocketPC hybrid (might consider a Palm OS device as well).

Does anyone know if Cingular offers one of these phones?

I'm in Florida and they don't here. I wanted one bad but upgraded to a Siemens S56 w/bluetooth. Paired with my HP5555 w/bluetooth getting internet, email is working very nicely. I'm glad I went this way and after using this setup I'd stay with it even if Cingular got the PPC Phones.

Not currently, to the best of my knowledge. One could theoretically buy a unlocked version and use it with Cingular.

I believe that they are going to do so soon. Once they do you will be able to use an unlocked GSM phone as long as it used the 1900 mhz frequency. I currently use an XDA and SPV Smartphone on T-mobile. Hopefully they (Cingular) will not roll out the new 850 mhz GSM in Alabama.

If you buy an unlocked pda phone you will be able to use it with cingular. YOu can buy directly from the manufacturer, or get the unlock codes.

Yep, you have to hack, which can *sometimes* wreck your device. Notice the *(astericks) around the "sometimes".
