View Full Version : Palm vs. Microsoft: What's your criteria for your next PDA?

OK, I switched from Palm to PPC (Toshiba E755) in June, and I'm not sure what my next PDA will be...

To get me to even consider staying with PPC, Microsoft and Toshiba will need to release a fix for the problem of alarms not waking the device... I think that's a small request, but they've been sitting on this one for YEARS now...

Palm can win me back if 2 things happen:

1. Palm or Sony releases a device in the PPC form factor (virtual graffiti, no flip cover or slider) and

2. Kinoma releases a version of their encoder that accepts MPEG2 input files.

I'd have bought the Tungsten T3 in a heartbeat, but I just don't know how I feel about the slider -- and a two-step encoding process for video (Virtualdub to MPEG1, then Kinoma Producer) is annoying. I watch a lot of recorded TV on my PPC in WMV format, so that's important too.

The race is on. May the best OS win.
