What's the difference between the two (SD and SDIO)?

On the SD WiFi cards, how do these work with a 1900 series iPaq? Does it excessively slow it down or drain the battery?

A SD-slot does only support SD memory cards, while an SDIO slot supports SD memory cards AND other SDIO products. SD WiFi and SD Bluetooth cards are examples of SDIO products, so you need a SDIO slot to use them.
