As some of you might know, good write performance is usually difficult with flash memory. It remains to seen how this card will actually perform, but I won't complain if someone were to give me one as a gift. 8)

Considering that 4 GB cards are selling for around $1000 after being recently introduced, can we safely assume that the new 12 GB card will sell for about the same price when it comes out?

12 GB is six hours of 24-bit/96 KS/s audio recording -- just what we need!
Now we just have to hope that it's fast enough.

No kidding... I want to be on that list, too. I would have never believed how quickly I filled my 1 gig CF once I got it.

Wow, 4GB is just amazing. Really, only professional photographers will use these cards... Otherwise, what kind of person will spend $1000 on a 4GB card? Bring the price down to about $300, and I'll do it. Better yet, come out with a 4GB SD card and you surely got a sale!

I guess we'll just wait and see when this will be the grand prize of the next contest on PocketPC Thoughts.

Uh, a 6GB card would be something like every PPCT "Big Thinker" contest combined and doubled. 8O

Whatever the price, these higher capacity cards should further push down prices of lower capacities.

Did anyone notice whether these are Type I or Type II cards?

True. The problem I have with these cards is you put all you eggs in one basket. If the card has an issue or you lose it, you've lose everything. I'd take a couple smaller Flash or Microdrive cards.

I get about 266 hours, about 11 days! of 96 b/sec music.

That will keep me entertained long enough, thank you :)

In the pro audio world we don't compress music into MP3s -- we use linear encoding. Recording at 24-bit/96 KB/s using our PDAudio system eats up 2 GB/hour, so a 12 GB CF card will give us 6 hours of recording -- wonderful!
