Hey guys, decided to buy a bluetooth enabled phones, since never had one, please share your expiriences and reccomend me one. It is to be used with an H1940 PDA.

So far Sony Ericsson R520m is the most attractive, since I can get it for $55 bucks :D

Thanks guys.

Siemens S55 ;) (it may be called S56 in the US)

I have it connected with my Billionton USB dongle as well as my CF card. You can sync via Bluetooth (Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Tasks etc.) and dial-up (of course), and have file transfer as well, and much much more. I'm happy

I'm very happy with my Sony Ericsson T610. Connects to my bluetooth dongle and 2210 relatively easilly (especially if you set up as a T68).

Can browse files and transfer compatible ones on the PPC to the phone and send text messages from the PPC.

Free in the UK (as long as you don't mind a 12 month 'subscription').

A downside maybe that the screen can be difficult to see in bright sunlight (not normally a problem in the UK - summer will pass).

I have a Nokia 3650 and Love it. it works great with my Ipaq 2215.

I had a SE T68 and really did not like it.

My vote is for the Nokia.

Hmm hows the battery life on theS55/S56? Cnet really did not like it for some reason. It looks like a nice phone, but hard to justify it over the T610 considering they are very close in price.

So far I am torn between T610/T616 and R520m. On one hand you have a phantastic phone, with tonnes of features, but quite expensive. On the other, you have a $50 dollar cheap toy, but the R520m first came out back in 2000. I mean jeez lol.

Nokia 3650 looks like a great phone, but the fisherprice layout, does not attract me too much lol.

BTW, yeah T68i is completely off my list, for some reason a lot of ppl complaing about bluetooth implementation with that phone.

There is a "rule of thumb" that you get a better experience with an (Sony)Ericsson Handset as they were first to market (with the R520m) it allowed many more vendors to do interoperability testing with their equipment/software

I found the T68i was one of the best bluetooth handsets and worked with every piece of kit it i tried it with! I think some people had issues with it's reception though (particulalry in the US)...

A T610 (or T616 for US) would be good, or if you can wait their Z600 has an improved screen and clam-shell form factor. (There are rumours of a T620 though... next month may see some announcements)

I have a new T610 which I run with my IPAQ 5550 here in the UK - (on the Orange Network and GPRS) - it workks extremely well.

I originally used the Nokia 6310i but the pairing with the IPAQ was flaky most of the time. Age?? It worked well with the 6210 with the Bluetooth battery setup -.

I am not a fan of the T610 per se BUT there is no denying that the combination I use with the laptop dongle - all syncronises seamlessly.

I have my doubts about the battery life on the T610 so I have invested in an extra battery. Roll on there being more hot-spots in Enland do that I can get more out of the WiFi .....

Just ordered the T616 here in Canada, prolly the most phone for the money. Yeah it is 3 times more expensive then the R520m, but my S40 is getting too old now, so why buy the R520m if I will likely need to buy a new phone anyways in a few months, simply because I am a gadget freak ;p
Also bought a class 1 USB dongle for my house.

Cant wait till Wednesday :D

Thanks to all those who helped, you guys rock :!:

Does anyone know of a relatively cheap BT phone in Canada? I am looking through the service providers and BT phones are hard to come by, and if you do find one, they are 600 dollars CAD plus!

In Canada, the following phones have BT:

Sony Ericsson P800
Siemens S55
Nokia 3650
Ericsson T39

I am not aware of any other phone that you could purchase with a plan say from Fido, Rogers, Bell or Telus that has bluetooth.

Also no, T616 is not like a PDA, first of all it is quite compact, plus my PDA is not always with me, my phone however is always with me.
