Dell finally released the WM2003 driver for its TruMobile300 CF Bluetooth card on its support site, but after it installs you can only use the built in PPC 2003 settings to bond devices and connect- there is no bluetooth manager! No way to activesync, no way to use lan access, etc... I have heard similar reports of this on Dell's support boards. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes, and I am not entirely sure this is a problem with Dell. Rather it might be a problem with Microsoft.

It would seem that Microsoft has decided that the best way to program Bluetooth devices is to use sockets and not what the rest of the world is doing and supporting the Bluetooth profiles.

All that the Dell driver does is provide the interface between the hardware and the built-in Bluetooth stack that Microsoft has provided with Windows Mobile 2003. Since Microsoft's stack does not support profiles...... there are none. This means that there is no more Obex Push or Serial Port profiles, etc.

Essentially, this has made all the previous Bluetooth software that was expecting Profiles to work, break under Microsoft's implementation of a Bluetooth stack.
