View Full Version : NEW backup battery died in 2 days!

I like my Axim. I don't want to be angry at it. But I am.

I just bought a replacement CR2032 3V battery 2 days ago. Slapped it into the backup battery compartment, and my PPC said it had 100% power. And yesterday I charged the main battery until the indicator light was green. So both were at 100%.

And now, 5 minutes after I say how easy it was on another thread, it's dead. 0 %. I popped it out and put it back it, but it's still 0%.

The only thing I can think of it to test the batt with a volt meter.

Any ideas?

And now it's back to 100%.

I have had this happen to me Before. The battery meter on the Dell doesn't seem that great, especially when the battery starts getting low.

Maybe the contacts are dirty?

Or you got a battery with faulty anode/cathode contacts.

Now it's working normally. :?:

I guess from now on I'll ignore my battery meter for a few days after I replace it. Must've been an overvolt or something.

Thanks for the ideas, guys! :)

do you have it in the power save mode??? That seems to work well (at least with the standard battery)....

What do you mean? I always have it "full throttle." :armed:

ok, but in the power menu you can select the power save and it seems to give you a lot more time on the battery.

Do you have a PPC2002 Axim? There were (are?) a couple of ROM updates for it, one of which at least had some effect on the flakiness of the battery metering. (Not talking about the WM2003 update, but PPC2002 ROM updates)

I have a 400 Mhz running the A03 ROM of PPC 2002 in 400 Mhz mode. When I flashed the ROM from A01 to A03 it seemed to fix my backup batt woes.

But it all works now, so I think this thread can rest in peace (:treadmill:).
