I thought the OQO (http://www.oqo.com) was totally DOA as a product...even if the web site managed to maintain an existence.

But this link (http://www.asiacomputerweekly.com/acw_ViewArt.cfm?Artid=21029&catid=1&subcat=4) to an article in Asia Computer Weekly suggests that might not be the case. And even goes so far as to suggest there may be as many as 5 other companies working on similar devices.

If this potential platform is still being actively R&D'd, I'm a little surprised that Paul Allen's Vulcan Mini PC (http://minipc.vulcan.com/default.asp) page doesn't have any 'News' newer than the Jan '03 stuff that made the rounds back then.

Until I hear that someone has either one of these devices, I'm convinced they're vapourware...too much talk, too much hype, not enough shipping of the product.

That was pretty much the conclusion I had reached as well. It just kinda surprised me when I saw some 'fresh' hype. :)

Sadly, I'm inclined to agree. Although OQO are taking pre-orders, as far as I know, no-one has even had a review unit. There is a thread on Yahoo here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/oqopc/message/652
This particular message is very interesting - it has a link to a company that reckons they can get a cut down version of Win 98 running on an Ipaq! 8O 8)
