IPAQ 3670 W/ PPC 2002 UPGRADE PASS THROUGH PROBS!!! HELP!!!!!

Can someone help me before I turf my pocketpc???

I cannot get passthrough to work AT ALL!!!!

The funny thing is my email works just fine off pop3 and my avant works perfectly.

I cannot access the internet for any other sites provided or of my choosing.

To help you....

yes I have Active sync 3.7 set at Internet for pass through on my main pc

yes..on ppc in connections the three are set on internet, internet and internet.

When I check these internet settings Modify) though it says new in the
next screen for both.

Any thoughts.

My everlasting envy and gratitude to anyone who can assist and fix this for me...

Are you running a software firewall?

Yes...I am running Sygate along with Grissoft AVG antivirus software.

The firewall does not seem to be the prob though as my email works fine and states it is using pop3.

It seems that I cannot get anything except Avantgo to work...

cant get to any sights...

I am on cable modem and trying to run through my computer...

Is there special setting I am reqd to make to my net card or modem settings??

You have to be sure that AS is allowed to access the 'net..

Yes active sync is allowed to access the net.

Here is a thought...

When I click on "Internet" in AS, it only has 'new' in there...

there does not seem to be a connection...and yet again my mail works fine.

Ok here we go again...

Have checked Yahoo and tried just about everything known to man....

If I got a PDA to acces the internet why cant I do it while connected through usb?

The particular point that strikes me is this.

My email on the PDA works fine using the POP# as it should.

Avantgo works fine and downloads tons of articles.

MY INTERNET EXPLORER (POCKETPC) WILL NOT GO TO ASNY WEBSITES OR GIVE ANY ERROR MESSAGES!!!!

You just see the little 'world' icon for a split second and that it.

Can I then believe the problem lies within the PDA in that it IE will not connect to a valid protocol which is there (pop3)????

I have seen the exact problem you have described on my old 3630. It can also happen if you try to surf using some other means besides AS passthrough (wireless card, hooked up to cell phone, etc.)

The problem is that there are 2 hidden files (CMMapG and CMMapP) in the root directory (\My Device) of your iPAQ that have been deleted. This can happen if, within File Explorer, you tap and hold in a blank area and select "Show All Files". I saw those 2 files, thought "what the heck are these", and deleted them. Then my Pocket IE stopped working.

To fix this, run "welcome.exe" in the \Windows directory. You'll go through the screen align and time zone selection process, but it will recreate the 2 files mentioned above.

FIXED!!!!!

In my curiosity, I removed the back and was lucky enough to watch my battery unconnect itself.

System hard rebooted, resynchronized which put all my saved data back on and it was fixed.

Gotta love common curiosity.
