I tried doing some searches on google to get to the bottom of this..but didn't come up with anything. Is this how it should be? Does it have to do with some weird windows formating something?

Sorry for the newbie question, I just want to make sure I don't need to return this.

Thanks!

don't feel bad, this is a really common issue. It has to do with the way that kilobytes are measured. everyone assumes that a kilobyte is 1000 bytes. in actuality it is 1024 bytes. that 24 bytes per 1000 really makes a difference in the large size disks we have today. I think it also might be effected by the way the device is formated. not much you can do about it, and we are all in the same boat, so, again.... don't feel bad.

Depends on your definition of MegaByte:

Sales and PR: 1,000,000 bytes
Computer Users: 1,048,576 bytes

256 MB card = 256,000,000 / 1,048,576 = 244.140625 so what your seeing is about right...(somebody check my math! )
