Can anyone tell me why the BT file transfers or so slow? I'm talkig almost 5 minutes for a 3mb file over BT File Transfer with my Belkin FT8001 dongle?

Is that just the way it is with BT File transfers? When I'm browsing the internet it's plenty zippy...

Thanks,

rpmmoier, are you copying using Activesync of Bluetooth File Transfer?

This wont be a terribly useful reply, but this question comes up very often, and useful replies are very few and far between.

I personally suspect the real reason why file transfer is so slow is due to an internal use of serial ports (like activesync does), which therefore limits you to about 11500b/sec.

Just a theory, but it would explain alot.

I'm using the BT File Transfer service... which I thought would be faster than Activesync. I've read that sufing through internet passthrough with BT Activesync is slow.

Interesting thing is that on my work PC I don't even have Activesync installed. Maybe the Belkin dongle using serial port on it's BT Xfer?

I'm using my 2210 to initiate the transfer, not the PC. Could that be the problem?

What driver version are you using? Version 1.2 is very slow and does use Serial connection (even for LAN access - on this old version it uses a BluetoothNullConnection via serial).

Version 1.3 and up are implemented in a different way.

Where do I get 1.3? I only see 1.2 on Belkins site..

Are the 1.3 drivers compatible with the Belkin F8T001? I tried them and I can't see my computer, and the PC can't locate my 2210. I had to go back to the included 1.2 drivers. Sad...

Does increasing the speed of the Bluetooth Null Modem help? Mine was at 19200 so I went up as high as I could go...

Bluetooth is still too much of a mystery for a neophyte...
