Does anyone know why they removed the consumer IR? I thought that was a pretty cool function, and it didn't seem to me to take up more room than the standard one.

It seems that the High End Business Model doesn't need it... 8O

I think it's a matter of product differentiation - HP wanted to make the 2215 the "high end consumer device", while the 5550 was the enterprise device. That's just a guess mind you. :-)

I hope they continue to create the ipaq style devices. the sleeve expansion is really cool, But I like high end stuff added. I don't see why they can't add a cf slot to the 5550 series. seems logical.

agreed- adding a CF slot to the high-end ipaqs i think would really boost their sales- its one of the highpoints of the 2200...

however since the 5555 has BT/WiFi built in, the only common use of the CF slot is storage which i think HP thought SD could cover

intresting i didnt know the 5555 didnt have consumer iR- i love nevo,

your right about the CF slot. I really don't need it. hopefully sd cards will come down drasticaly in price. the 256mb card can be gotten for about $65.00. when the 512 comes down to that level, I will buy 3 or 4. I can keep a whole movie in 100-200 megs, that would be a few movies, mp3's and some games or pdf files (can't stop playing dnd).

I would have liked a cf slot on my 5550 but I'm happy with just the sd. I copied my cd collection to my pc and with wireless active sync its easy to just copy different albums onto my sd card from my pc whenever I go out. I can store about 10 cd's on my 256mb Lexar sd card which isn't bad.

Sometimes I wish it had a jog dial but I'd rather have the slim keyboard/cover which I have on almost all the time and that a jog dial would block.

There was a time I wanted a CF Slot for my iPaq very badly...Now with the 5555 I do not feel the same. I have everything I want and I am happy with it...
Of course a CF Slot would make the iPaq more complete. I hope HP realizes that and doesn't change the design in order to include the CF Slot...

I'd still like a second slot, although I don't care too much if it's SD instead of CF. I'd like to keep my apps and most used content on the one card that I can always keep in the first slot, and then have multiple cards of movies, maps, music, etc. that I could swap in and out of the second slot.
