Man, how boring is the "myinfo" graphic when you reset your 22xx???

I decided to change mine...

Here's what it used to look like:

Here's what it looks like now(just make sure you resize it to 240x60)...

On the device: c:\windows\myinfo.gif

Sometimes the simple things in life make it all worth while...

I have changed all of the .gifs I can, I wish there were more to change, but "Oh Well"...

Maybe we should have a contest for best images...

I've never seen that image before in my life. Yet my 5550 does have it.

You learn something new (almost) every day. ;)

It pops up if you have display my info checked on the user info screen. When you turn the device on it displays your user info and anything you wish to add, like Reward for Return :)

Steve,

Do you know if you do a hard reset it will go back to how it was? Or will the same image be used because it is in the Windows folder? And do you keep your original .gif?

A hard reset will wipe out the graphic, you would have to copy it back to the device again...

Dredging up an old topic, but it was a hit in Google for my search, and I thought I would add a comment and a possible suggestion.

I work for a company that is starting to use Pocket PC devices for ordering and inventory control. They use Windows Mobility 2003, but we all know that is Pocket PC for all intents and purposes. :) The devices we are using are Symbol handhelds (9000 series). They are a more rugged-ized PDA, but internally they are the same as every other PPC device. As far as I know so far. If the following information doesn't apply, I'm sorry. Never used a PDA before this. :)

Our handhelds need to be more durable than the private consumer, so things like "wiping everything when a cold reset/boot is peformed" is not acceptable.

There is a folder called Applications (under My Device) on our handhelds. In it we place anything we want to persist through a cold boot. You can create files that will automatically run when a cold boot occurs to do things like install applications or copy files.

*.cpy files are used like batch programs. So for example you want the myinfo.gif to change after a cold reset. Put the new myinfo.gif in the Application folder and then put a file called myinfo.cpy there as well. Inside the myinfo.cpy file you would have:

\windows\myinfo.gif > \application\myinfo2.gif
\application\myinfo.gif > \windows\myinfo.gif

You can also put registry files in the Application folder, and they will be run automatically as well.
