<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.furrygoat.com/Software/PocketFeed/index.html' target='_blank'>http://www.furrygoat.com/Software/P...Feed/index.html</a><br /><br /></div>One of my favorite things to do on my Pocket PC when it is connected to my WiFi network at home, is using the news aggregator PocketFeed. It allows me to check if my favorite sites have new entries, and read -depending on the XML feed settings- those entries, or the first couple of lines. The version I have used over the past months was the initially released 0.5 Alpha, and it was pretty stable. But now, they have released version 0.6.0, adding some features to the mix:<br />• ETag and If-None-Match support added for faster downloads <br />• More Pocket-PC 2002 like visuals in options dialog <br />• Download date now saved in OPML <br />• Enabled Clear Type/Fit to screen/Font Sizing Menu Options <br />• Cache size shown in options window, wipe the cache, and view it's location <br />• Splitter Bar can be snapped up <br />• HTTP Referer can be set (stored in registry, options panel) <br />• Clean cache contents (options panel) <br />• Last imported blog list address is persisted to registry.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/feed-ss2.gif" />

Alright, very nice program, but I find it very confusing.

I saw the screenshot posted by Marlof, and one of the sites lsited was "The Registrar". Hoe exactly can you add that URL? I tired www.theregistrar.com, but that didnt seem to help it.

Any suggestions?

You have to enter not the URL to the main index page (which just the site name will lead you to) but the page of the XML or RSS feed. For instance, for Pocket PC Thoughts you wouldn't enter http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com but http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/xml/ .

It's The REGISTER (http://theregister.co.uk) - a UK-based IT site that's well worth checking out. The news feed that PocketFeed needs is http://theregister.co.uk/feeds/latest.rdf

I had no idea Trillian did this. I'll have to check it out. I assume it's a plugin?

I'm currently trying out FeedReader (http://www.feedreader.com). So far it's not too bad, though it seems to have difficulty saving some of my preferences.

Yes, indeed.

Many pages show their XML feed pages by publishing a small orange icon featuring the letters XML in white on their site. Some news aggregators come with a standard list of XML pages. And you could use the OPML list (which is supported by PocketFeed!) of other users with similar interests to import links.

Arne, good tip to have the feeds in your Outlook. But I've downloaded NewsGator just after your post - not using it again. I was put off for a 14 day trial version that pops up a nag screen every time you start Outlook. This and the fact that carrying the headlines in your Pocket Outlook is cool, but can't update from there.

What I'm using very happy with, and free is WildGrape (http://www.wildgrape.net). And I'll get PocketRSS for my Pocket PC.

PocketRSS is great and comes with a cool today screen module for displaying headlines.
