I need to enter an "extra dial-string modem command" under Settings, Advanced in my modemconnection. BUT THERE'S NOT ENOUGH ROOM; i CANT ENTER THE PRETTY LONG STRING!!!

IS THERE A PATCH FOT THIS OR ANY WAY AROUND IT?

There's only room for 20 letters...

If not - I cant use my pda with gprs via bluetooth...

Please, Please, Please, - help me!

Does anyone understand what I mean?!

Yes I understand what you mean, however i do not see a solution, usually GPRS modem strings are short, my T68i has a modem string of *99#...what model phone do you have?

No, you misunderstand me...

*99# is the number I also have to submit as: "phone number"...

But - since I've got a Siemens S55 - I need to use an "extra dial-string modem command" too, you know! This you can find under advanced settings in connections...

But the square where to write the string takes too few letters/numbers!!!

It's soooooooo stupid....

Leif,

I WAS able to get 2210/Bluetooth/S55/GPRS setup working over Vodafone in the UK. Some of the Advanced settings I saw on the web didn;t fit and could be shortened successfully.

If you post the settings you are trying to use perhaps we can try to shorten the string.

cheers,
MK

Thank you for this, my friend!

String # 1:

AT^SGAUTH=1

String # 2:

+CGDCONT=1, "IP","isplnk1.swip.net"

These I have tried in different ways, for ex.

- checked/unchecked "wait for dialling tone"
- checked/unchecked "use specific server address"

I get a Bluetooth connection, but my phone never dials anything...

I pray you have some help for me!

Leif,

I successfully use the following settings ...

Number: *99***1#
Advanced Dial String: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet"
Wait For Dial Tone: Yes
Speed: 57600
Use Server Assigned Address

The 1 at the end of the *99***1# is linked to the CGDCONT=1

The big difference is you specify your ^sgauth=1

I have also been able to connect with a dial string of...
AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet";^sgauth=1

but this form would still be too long (>40 chars) given your APN (isplnk1.swip.net).

Drop your first dial string and try ...

+CGDCONT=1,"IP","isplnk1.swip.net"

Fingers Crossed ... getting this stuff working seems as much black magic and luck as knowledge and skill.

Cheers,
MK

MadKing,

thank ypu for helping out!

I got an e-mail from siemens support today (they even called my operator and worked with their technicians!!), where they could help me partly...

A working string gets me connected:

^sgauth=1+cgdcont=1,ip,isplnk1.swip.net

BUT - now I've got another prob.:

I cant surf the internet because I keep getting errormessage:

cannot load page -bla, bla, bla- you need to have a working modemconnection...

This I get even though I'm sure as hell am connected!

I' m sweating now;-)
