hey guys....I don't know if you guys know about the sv-av20. Its a little camcorder and digital cam from panasonic. I think the sv-av30 was in tomb raider so you might know about it. But any who....this thing records in mpeg 4....when i drag the files over to the pc it always plays....but when i try to drop the sd card straight into the ipaq...i get the video but no sound. Is there a codec i can use? and is it easy to install. Or perhaps there is a player out there that will allow me to play mpeg4. Thanks for the time.

What codec does the camera use for audio? If the manual doesn't say (and it probably doesn't) open one of the files in GSpot (http://www.headbands.com/gspot/) to find out (assuming GSpot can see it, it isn't fully featured in the MPEG department yet).

And FYI: the reason there are so many sites with so many guides for encoding video for the Pocket PC platform is that, really, it's asking a bit much to expect a PDA with limited resources and a tiny screen to be able to play a video that was intended to be played on a desktop pc.

It would be nice to simply be able to take a CF or SD card out of a DVcamcorder and pop it into a Pocket PC and play it, but we're just not to that point yet.

According to Amazon via a quick :google: search, this encodes via MPEG4, so the method I gave in the other thread (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16253) should work just fine.

i'll try it out...you're the man. Well...the video from the camcorder isn't really that great for desktop playback. But it looks wonderful on the ppc screen!!!! so its kind of bugging be that i can't heart anything.
