For compatibility issues still not sorted in ZipCAD for PalmOS, I will need to purchase a PocketPC likely soon. Most use would be reviewing CAD files, and taking notes both in Word and notepad.

Since a good deal of this work would be outside and under the sunlight, outdoor viewability is crucial to me. Which device would work better between 3970, 1910 and 2210???

Actually 3970 and 1910 are the two available locally, 2215 should be purchased online.

I guess 3970 is a bit less clear since its a bit larger, also is (still) way expensive and runs PPC2002 which I have read is less stable than 2003.
I have read 2215 hass the lowest contrast of them, but I like the size the most and also batteries are replaceable (I expect to need two batteries to keep it rolling a day long), and also I could use CF cards in it and also in my camera.
1910 is cheaper but I am not so wild about it - feel it to small and, specially, too thin. I prefer something a bit thicker. Also the PPC2002 issue with it.

Thanks for your attention and replies.

I have a 2210 (same as 2215) and can use it in bright sunlight reasonably well. I dare say if I adjusted the screen brightness I could get a better result but I'm just lazy. I am able to play Jawbreaker on it and can easily distinguish the different coloured balls in bright outdoor light.

I bought the 3970 from Dixons for a knocked down price (end of line). Got it home, played with it. The screen is FANTASTIC. I can see it perfectly in any conditions. Even outside with the sun blazing. In the office, I can turn off the backlight and let the overhead fluroscents light it up ;).

I've also reflashed to Windows 2003 on it. Flashed perfectly first time. If you buy it now, you get a free upgrade to PocketPC2003.

I would say that if you don't want to buy SD-devices anyway (Wi-fi, Bluetooth, VGA ...), the 1910 is ideal. Wonderful screen, cheap and very thin.

What does PPC2003 have that you need? .net?

JorgenWell, I have read here that it is more stable than 2002. I think that's important. I just have fired a lot in this forums concerning OS stability compared against Palm.

2003 also has a lot better networking support which is pretty important to some people.

It's got good bluetooth support too, but this might have been in 2002 already.
