I've been looking for something like this for making web page updates on the go. But there is a piece missing for what I need. Is there an FTP client for PPC that I can use to upload/download the html with?

This does look very interesting. And even though $16 is not a lot of change, I really wish they had a demo/trail version to run through before I fork it over... :|

The Handango page says you need Pocket PC 2003 but yet also show a long list of PDAs which obviously are note PPC2003 like the ipaq 36xx, 36xx, etc. Somethings are amiss here.

I've used VEdit and PocketMarkUp to do this before. Both are free and PocketMarkUp has a ton of tags built into it. However, I can't find those apps anymore (at least not at the URLs in the respective readmes).

There's also FTPView at this French site (http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/index.php?sortby=rating&cat=18) (app is in English). Free, too! But, alas, it appears to no longer be supported either. That's three for three in my suggestions in this thread.

VEdit has been renamed to LGTeditor. Have a look here (http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/index.php?setlang=english) and do a search on lgteditor.

Its actually a french site and the english version is still beeing worked on so not all the reviews might be translated yet.

Thanks for all the FTP suggestions. Will give it a shot!

I'd rather have seamless WebDAV support than FTP. Transferring files manually is such a chore.

Did a google search and this is the first link it found. Has download and it's free.

Lasher is correct. If they don't provide a trial then I can't buy. I do want to point something interesting out that are just in the screenshots.

I have been a web developer now for about 8 years so I know what's happening. In the past few years they have created a HTML standard called XHTML. This creates a standard for all HTML tags. I hate to say it but this program breaks the XHTML standard in every way. Everytthing from all tags must be in lower case to some tags just being outdated.

Here's the funny part. This standard was created because smaller devices like PocketPC's, Palms, Cell Phones didn't have the processing power to check old HTML. So this program was created for a device that in theory can't run it.

Now I know with the speed of PDA's it doesn't seem like a standard like this is useful. Trust me it is. Pages load faster and the code itself is easier to read.

But this is just my 2 cents about it.

I noticed that too, and it's a pretty serious problem. My company just figured out that a bunch of old code won't work in IE6 because of the combination of uppercase tagging and reference to a strict dtd. Since IE6 has both a strict and "loose" rendering engine, pointing to a strict dtd on a page with uppercase tagging ends up breaking the code.

Also, I noticed that it uses the <b> tag, which has been deprecated, and probably uses <i> instead of <em>.

As nice as the idea is, it's even nicer to start with correct code, so I'll be staying away from this one.

It's been updated within the last four months, at least.

Darn! It's still at 1.1.0 and hasn't been updated since March 2002. But this one supposedly does XML (and I would hope XHTML also).

Oh well. At least both of these are freer than Pocket HTML Editor. And I'd go so far as to say swankier, too. ;)

EDIT: PocketMarkup is actually a vb app so I'd recommend staying away from it on PPC2003 devices, unless you ABSOLUTELY need to do XML stuff on your handheld. And I don't know how accurate it's XML is.
